How Do I Go About Preparing A Formal Will?

I’m often asked how do I prepare a will. Well preparing a formal will can be misleading. In a formal will you’re going to address who you want to be as your executor the person in charge you want to put down who you want your beneficiaries to be. If you happen to have minor children, you want to list who you want to be the guardian but have a will.

Getting a formal will prepared correctly can be very challenging.

For example you have to have two witnesses be present the same time, they have to write that were present at the same time that they signed the document and they have to date it. A formal will cannot just be a notarized document, because a notarized document is not the solution, it has to be witnessed. So the best advice I can give to anybody that searching about whether they should try to create a formal will or find a competent legal counsel to create a formal will for them, my advice is to find a competent attorney. My firm has literally thousands of people we help with their estate planning needs. We’re here to help you.

If you have any questions fill out the contact form and we will answer that question for you. We look forward to being able to offer you service in the creation of your will and in meeting your estate planning needs. We will discuss your options with you and help you choose the option that best protects you, your assets, and your family.

We also offer a regularly scheduled seminar in our office to help people determine what the best options are for them in their estate planning needs. We hope you sign up for one of our seminars to help you find your best options. We regularly conduct free seminars designed to teach about the benefits of creating an estate plan. The seminars are held on-site at our Anaheim office inside of our “classroom”. We offer light snacks and refreshments to the attendees and the group is often small and intimate, which allows for questions to be asked comfortably and for a very relaxed environment. Please encourage your loved ones to attend the seminar so that they may learn more about the estate planning process and benefits.
